APC Criticizes ₦159 Billion Infrastructure Plan: Adeleke's Spokesperson Calls It Out

Osun Governor's Infrastructure Plan Faces Criticism from APC
There's been some serious heat in Osun State lately, and it's all about Governor Ademola Adeleke's ambitious ₦159 billion infrastructure plan. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been firing shots, but the Osun State government isn't taking it lying down. They're accusing the opposition of playing politics and ignoring the state's real infrastructure needs. According to the state government, the APC had its chance when it was in power but failed to address the massive infrastructure deficit.
The governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, isn't holding back. He's calling out the APC's criticism as baseless, pointing out that significant progress has already been made in the first phase of the infrastructure plan. He insists that the second phase is not only doable but absolutely crucial for the state's future development.
Phase One: Setting the Foundation
Rasheed is confident when he talks about the progress made so far. He says the first phase of the state’s infrastructure overhaul is already between 70 to 80 percent complete, covering essential sectors like roads, healthcare, and education. This isn't just about throwing money at problems—it's about making real, tangible improvements that people can see and feel every day.

He emphasized that the second phase isn't some pie-in-the-sky idea. It's a well-thought-out plan driven by the direct needs of communities across the state. It's about listening to the people and giving them what they need to thrive.
The Evidence Speaks for Itself
Rasheed laid it all out, saying, “It’s only those who hate progress that would deny the massive infrastructure development happening all over the state. Just look at the state capital. Work on the Oke Fia and Lameco flyovers has never stopped, and anyone can see that. In fact, the pace of work is picking up. The flyover at Ile Ife is moving forward, and there's plenty of video and picture evidence to prove it. The Governor just inspected the Ilesa dualisation project, where contractors are working around the clock to get it done.”
He went on to highlight other successes: “The Oke Gada bridge is almost 90 percent finished, and the dualisation of the Old Garage-Oke Fia-Lameco road is already complete. The Ilesa Garage to Stadium roundabout is done and commissioned, and the Akoda-Oke Gada dualisation is fully completed. We've upgraded 200 health centers, rehabilitated over 100 schools, and completed about 150 kilometers of roads in both local and urban areas.”
Community Input: The Key to Success
Rasheed pointed out that the opposition's narrative doesn't reflect reality. He explained how community input played a vital role in shaping the infrastructure priorities. For instance, the Abere flyover project was replaced with a road project based on community feedback, and the Ikirun Junction dualisation was extended all the way to the Kwara border. It's about making decisions that make sense for the people who live there.
“Governor Adeleke is a leader who truly cares about the people. He’s stayed true to his promises, something that’s been widely recognized by both local and national observers. What the APC couldn’t accomplish in four years, Governor Adeleke has delivered in just two,” Rasheed proudly declared.
Reducing Infrastructure Deficit
Rasheed added, “Experts have noted that Governor Adeleke has reduced the infrastructure deficit in Osun State by more than 45 percent, compared to the nearly 90 percent deficit he inherited from the previous government in 2022. The APC left behind a huge infrastructure challenge when they were voted out of office. This is the reality they’re trying to ignore now.”

He further explained that the ₦159 billion infrastructure expansion is essential for driving economic growth, fostering business development, and attracting investments to the state. These projects span key areas, including roads, education, and healthcare, ensuring a holistic approach to development.
A Leader Who Walks the Walk
Rasheed concluded by affirming Governor Adeleke's commitment to completing all the new projects. “As the first phase was successfully implemented, Governor Adeleke has reiterated his dedication to finishing all the ongoing projects. He’s a leader who not only talks the talk but walks the walk. His track record speaks for itself.”
