Delta State Governor Defends Educational Qualifications Amidst Political Skepticism

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Sets the Record Straight on His Educational Background
Let me tell you something, folks. Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori isn’t one to shy away from a challenge, especially when it comes to defending his accomplishments. Recently, he took the opportunity to address critics who doubted his educational qualifications during the intense 2023 election campaign. In a bold and confident statement, Governor Oborevwori made it crystal clear that those doubters have been thoroughly proven wrong.
It all went down at the Government House in Asaba, where the governor welcomed members of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma, Worldwide. This wasn’t just any ordinary visit; it was a moment of triumph for the governor as he received not one, but two prestigious awards: the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association Hero’s Award and the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association Award of Excellence.
Governor Oborevwori Reflects on His Educational Journey
During the gathering, the governor opened up about the challenges he faced during the political season. He recounted how some individuals went out of their way to discredit him by claiming he lacked formal education. With a strong sense of pride, he declared, “Some people were determined to tarnish my image during the 2023 election campaign. They spread rumors that I never attended school. But let me tell you, I’m incredibly proud to have graduated from Ambrose Alli University, and I’m honored to be the first governor from that institution.”

He went on to emphasize his deep respect for Ambrose Alli University, sharing, “There was a time during the political season when people were saying I didn’t go to school. In politics, you know how it is—there’s always a lot of mudslinging and baseless accusations. But here’s the truth: I completed a full-time program at AAU. I’m a man with deep roots in local content. I believe wholeheartedly in Nigeria and in this state.”
Achievements Beyond Politics
Sharing his academic journey in detail, the governor revealed, “I graduated with a second-class upper degree after completing my BSc. I wasn’t the loudest student, but I was dedicated. To this day, all my classmates from Ekpoma still stand by me. And it didn’t stop there. I pursued my MSc full-time at Delta State University, Abraka, where I was among the pioneer students. That experience was invaluable, and I value it immensely.”
He continued, “Throughout the court case, the University stood firmly by my side. Even the opposition’s lawyers were taken aback by the strength of my academic record. And you know what? I still have my matriculation number. It’s a testament to my commitment and hard work.”
In a world where politics can often blur the lines of truth, Governor Oborevwori’s story is a powerful reminder that success comes from dedication, integrity, and standing firm in the face of adversity. His journey from student to governor is nothing short of inspirational.
