President Tinubu Highlights The Power Of Nigeria's Unity And Diversity

Embracing Diversity for National Progress
President Bola Tinubu made a powerful statement on Sunday at the State House in Abuja, where he hosted a delegation led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The President emphasized the importance of Nigeria's diversity and how it can serve as a strength rather than a weakness. With his characteristic wisdom, Tinubu reminded everyone that the nation's rich tapestry of cultures and backgrounds is an asset that should be celebrated and managed wisely for the greater good of all Nigerians.
President Tinubu's Message of Unity
In a heartfelt speech, President Tinubu urged all citizens to believe in the Nigerian project and work together towards a brighter future. He praised the efforts of Minister Wike, whose leadership in the FCT has sparked significant progress and development. Tinubu described Wike as "Mr. Infrastructure" and highlighted the transformative projects he has spearheaded in the nation’s capital. The President expressed his hope that these accomplishments would solidify the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s success in the upcoming 2027 elections.
As Tinubu looked around the room filled with diverse leaders, he said, "I could see the diversity of men and women here, and I must thank the Honorable Minister of FCT. It’s truly an honor to be the host of such a dynamic group in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory." He went on to explain how Wike had introduced innovative ideas to revamp the bureaucracy, promote forward-thinking governance, and provide opportunities for many who might otherwise have been held back by outdated systems.

Tinubu continued, "The independent Civil Service Commission solution and other initiatives we’ve discussed offer pathways for upward mobility and promotions within the civil service, Area Council structures, and even amidst limited resources. When Nyesom Wike first approached me with concerns about the Treasury Single Account (TSA), I was curious to hear his plans. After reviewing them, I gave my political guidance, ensuring that these changes would benefit not just one party but the entire nation. And now, we’re seeing rapid improvements in Abuja, from opening up rural areas to reviving long-neglected projects, including the Vice President’s residence."
Healthcare, Education, and More
President Tinubu didn’t stop there. He elaborated on the numerous advancements happening under Wike’s watch, saying, "Health centers are being rehabilitated, and healthcare facilities for FCT residents are being upgraded. Our schools are receiving much-needed attention, with teachers being supported and buildings being refurbished. Thank you, Wike, for making Abuja a better place for all of us."
A Better Abuja, A Stronger Nation
President Tinubu acknowledged Wike's contributions to turning Abuja into a thriving city. He remarked, "Without the progressive ideas you’ve brought to the table, we wouldn’t even have anything to celebrate. Today, we live in peace, security is improving, hunger is decreasing, food prices are dropping, and people are able to conduct business without fear. These are the results our people are looking for—comfort, good health, fairness, and hope. Nyesom Wike has shown us that despite our differences, we are one family living under the same roof, just in different rooms. Together, we must harness this diversity to build prosperity for all Nigerians."
Unity Across Regions
Addressing the importance of unity, President Tinubu pointed out that Wike's success as the FCT Minister exemplifies the potential of collaboration across ethnic and regional lines. "Nyesom Wike may not be from the North, but his work in the heart of northern Nigeria proves that diversity can lead to prosperity. He’s a shining example of what happens when we set aside our differences and focus on the common good. I am merely a custodian of your trust, empowered by Almighty Allah to serve with righteousness and humanity. This power is a temporary gift, and it must be used wisely to achieve great things for our nation."
Wike's Reaction to the Praise
Minister Wike was visibly moved by the President's words and expressed his gratitude. He stated, "I feel incredibly honored that my boss has acknowledged my efforts publicly. When your leader praises you in front of everyone, it’s a huge motivation to keep doing the job you’ve been entrusted with. We’re thrilled to be part of this administration and will continue to deliver results that make the people of Abuja proud. Every time Mr. President mentions our work, it reassures us that he’s watching, and we won’t let him down."
Wike concluded by answering questions from state house correspondents after the meeting, reinforcing his commitment to driving development in Abuja and beyond.
