Akpabio added, “In your 73 years on earth, you have pursued a political career marked by challenges, implementing transformative ideas and demonstrating qualities of a true democrat. These principles have not only modernized Lagos State but have also renewed hope for Nigeria’s future prosperity. Tinubu’s Role in APC and Buhari’s Presidency

While celebrating Tinubu’s achievements, Akpabio also took the opportunity to shed light on some of the challenges Tinubu faced within the All Progressives Congress (APC). He revealed that despite Tinubu's instrumental role in the formation of the APC and the victories of former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019, he was sidelined by the party and the former President.

Akpabio recounted, “Sir, I want to acknowledge your indelible role in the formation of the All Progressive Congress (APC) back in 2018. This party successfully challenged the dominance of the then People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015. There is no doubt that your support was instrumental to the victories recorded by President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC in both 2015 and 2019.”

He expressed disappointment in how Tinubu was treated by the APC leadership and Buhari, saying, “Even though they failed to make you a member of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC), they still called you the leader of the party. Yet, they took away from you the opportunity to contribute to the party’s decision-making. The NEC takes all the decisions, but you remained the leader outside the NEC.”

Akpabio praised Tinubu’s leadership qualities during his presidency, stating, “As the President of Nigeria in the last two years, sir, you have demonstrated astute leadership qualities.
