APC Leaders Urge Nigerians To Dismiss Rumors About Fayemi And Tinubu

APC Leaders Stand Firm Against Baseless Rumors
Two prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayo Afolabi and Wale Oshun, have taken a strong stance against the growing rumors suggesting that former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi is involved in a coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. In separate phone interviews with The Guardian on Tuesday, both leaders expressed their concerns, labeling the claims as dangerous political propaganda aimed at destabilizing the political landscape.
These rumors have been circulating like wildfire, but Afolabi and Oshun are not buying into them. They have categorically dismissed these allegations as unfounded, malicious, and part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by opposition politicians. The goal, according to them, is to create division and confusion within the APC ranks as the party gears up for the 2027 elections. The duo emphasized that such speculations are nothing more than a calculated attempt to weaken the APC's resolve and challenge President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Debunking the Conspiracy Theories
In a joint statement, Afolabi and Oshun highlighted that the rumors surrounding Fayemi’s alleged involvement in an opposition coalition are baseless and have no grounding in reality. They went on to say that these whispers are being spread with the sole intention of sowing discord within the party. According to them, the APC is a united front, and these attempts to divide them will not succeed. Oshun, in particular, was vocal, stating, “This is absolutely unfounded and very malicious. It is a political ploy designed to create confusion and dislocation in the polity.”

Segun Dipe Weighs In
Adding to the chorus of voices condemning the rumors, Segun Dipe, the APC’s Ekiti State spokesperson, also chimed in. He addressed the growing speculation that the party or the presidency might deny Governor Biodun Oyebanji a chance to run for re-election in 2027 due to his alleged closeness to Fayemi. Dipe was quick to dismiss these rumors, stating that they are nothing more than baseless gossip spread by political adversaries aiming to create unnecessary drama.
These rumors gained traction after reports emerged suggesting that the presidency was unhappy with Fayemi’s alleged involvement in a group of politicians working against President Tinubu’s re-election. There were even whispers that the presidency might use Governor Oyebanji’s relationship with Fayemi to undermine his political future. However, APC leaders like Afolabi, Oshun, and Dipe have all come forward to reject these claims, asserting that they are without any merit.
A Clear Message from the APC
Dipe clarified the party’s stance, stating, “It is not true that the party or the presidency has concluded any plans regarding Governor Oyebanji’s return ticket. These are baseless rumors being peddled by political enemies to stir up trouble.” He urged party members and Nigerians to remain focused on the bigger picture, which is ensuring President Tinubu’s success in the upcoming elections.
Despite the swirling rumors, Afolabi, Oshun, and Dipe have all reiterated that the APC remains united and committed to its objectives. They urged party members and Nigerians to ignore the misinformation and focus on the party’s goals for the future. The message is clear: the APC is standing strong, and these rumors will not derail their mission. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the APC is determined to stay the course and ensure President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
