Outrage in Buni Yadi: The Shocking Death of Two Sons of a Local Policeman

Listen, I’ve got a story that’s going to hit you hard. It’s about a town called Buni Yadi, nestled in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. Recently, something absolutely tragic happened there. Angry youths from the town are said to have killed two sons of a policeman who served at a local station. The victims were just 20 and 13 years old, and the circumstances around their deaths are as heartbreaking as they are shocking.

According to a security source close to the situation, the incident unfolded early in the morning—around 2 a.m.—on March 17, 2025. A group of armed youths stormed the policeman’s house, and what followed was nothing short of a nightmare. Not only did they take the lives of his two sons, but they also torched the house, leaving nothing behind but ashes and devastation.

Why Did This Happen? The Root of the Conflict

Now, you might be wondering, why would anyone do something so cruel? Well, here’s the backstory. The policeman, whose name hasn’t been disclosed, is from the Southern part of Nigeria. Locals accused him of being too tough on "indigenes arrested for criminal activities." Some residents felt he was unfairly targeting them, and that sentiment boiled over into violence. But let me tell you something—this guy was known for being diligent and hardworking. He wasn’t just doing his job; he was trying to make his community safer. Yet, his dedication didn’t protect him from the backlash.

But they accused him of being from the Southern part of the country and said he should go and fight crime in his own region. This is pure prejudice, and it cost him dearly.”

Inside the Attack: A Detailed Account

The senior security operative who spoke to Sahara Reporters gave a chilling account of what went down. He explained that the attack happened last week in Buni Yadi, a town with a complicated history. Buni Yadi was once under the control of Boko Haram for more than five years, and even after their retreat, the town still faced frequent attacks—sometimes twice a month or more. However, this attack was different. It wasn’t Boko Haram this time. It was a group of youths, allegedly working with some of the policeman’s own colleagues at the station.

“The incident occurred last week in Buni Yadi,” the source revealed. “The town has seen its fair share of trouble, but this attack was unique. A group of youths plotted to target a policeman in his home. The man we’re talking about managed to escape, but unfortunately, his two children—aged 13 and 20—were brutally slaughtered.”

Initially, everyone thought Boko Haram was responsible. But then, an intelligence report surfaced, pointing fingers at some of the policeman’s colleagues and local youths. The source added, “Those in charge already have the report, which is why I can’t mention names right now. But trust me, it’s bad. Very bad.”

As if the loss of his children wasn’t enough, the policeman’s house was completely destroyed in the attack. When the source reached out to him recently, the officer confirmed that he had left Yobe State for his hometown. “Our society is deteriorating,” the source lamented. “I just hope something positive comes out of this tragedy.”
