Dele Momodu And Atiku Abubakar Slam President Tinubu Over Rivers State Emergency Declaration

Dele Momodu Fires Back at President Tinubu for Rivers State Decision
Naija News has learned that the revered chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu over his recent declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State. In a nationwide broadcast, Tinubu made the bold move to suspend Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu for a period of six months. This decision has set off a wave of reactions across the country.
Responding to the situation in a post shared on his Instagram page, Momodu expressed his frustration with the President's decision. He pointed out that instead of addressing the issue with a simple phone call to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Tinubu resorted to removing an elected government from office. This, according to Momodu, is a drastic measure that could have been avoided with a more straightforward approach.
He wrote, “Those who fail to learn the lessons of HISTORY often become its victims… I have nothing but pity for those who seek to capture NIGERIA, either brazenly or surreptitiously… Instead of a simple call to WIKE by the PRESIDENT asking him to face his assignment in ABUJA and leave RIVERS STATE alone, TINUBU prefers over-pampermper a troublemaker by throwing away an elected government through the backdoor… ALLAH AKBAR.” Momodu's words carry a strong message, emphasizing the importance of learning from history and avoiding rash decisions that undermine democracy.

Atiku Abubakar Joins the Criticism
Adding fuel to the fire, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has also voiced his disapproval of President Tinubu's actions regarding the State of Emergency in Rivers State. In a statement issued late Tuesday night, Atiku labeled Tinubu’s declaration as disgraceful, accusing the President of enabling or failing to prevent the chaos that has engulfed the region.
Atiku stated, “The declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State reeks of political manipulation and outright bad faith.” He went on to argue that anyone paying attention to the ongoing crisis would recognize Tinubu's role as a partisan actor in the political turmoil in Rivers. His failure—or deliberate neglect—to prevent the situation from escalating is nothing short of disgraceful, according to Atiku.
Moreover, Atiku highlighted the security breaches that led to the destruction of vital national infrastructure in the state, placing the blame squarely on Tinubu's desk. “Tinubu cannot evade responsibility for the chaos his administration has either enabled or failed to prevent,” Atiku emphasized. The former Vice President’s comments underscore the need for accountability and a more responsible approach to governance, especially in times of crisis.
